Description
Crown cap (crowncap) — the special device for a blockage of bottles. It consists of a round piece of a metal tin which is on the edge bent (a so-called skirt of a stopper), and sealants. Originally the sealant was made of pith bark, however, from 1960-1970th years it was replaced with plastic — polyethylene or polyvinylchloride.
The stopper serves for dense tight closing of bottles. Crown caps on a way of their removal from a bottle are divided into two look: pry-off (opening of a bottle requires the special tool, a so-called opener) and twist-off (the stopper can be removed without use of tools, having just turned it a hand).
Technical requirements to crown caps are stated in OST 10 320-2003 of March 17, 2003.
